Crewman dies in North Sea accident

An offshore worker has died in an accident on a diving support vessel four miles off Aberdeen.  The crewman on the Well Servicer, operated by Technip, was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the accident during sea trials and was pronounced dead later on Wednesday evening.  Technip have confirmed that the vessel has now returned to port and an investigation into the fatality in underway.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have been informed.  Grampian Police have stressed that this incident is completely unrelated to the Bond Helicopter crash which went down with 16 people onboard.

The family, friends and colleagues of the deceased are in our thoughts at this dark time.
