Notes to editors
Offshore workers safety is a priority for OILC, a union of offshore workers, run by offshore workers.
Did you know that all of the OILC's six-man Executive Committee (required by law) are, or have recently been, offshore safety representatives? Elected by their offshore colleagues to represent their interests with the operators, employers and regulators? The general secretary was, until his election in 1996, an offshore worker for 18 years - including six as a safety representative.
Additionally, the union's Standing Committee is a broad representative group consisting twenty members, twelve of whom are serving safety representatives on platforms and rigs right across the North Sea.
When you listen to the OILC - you listen to the genuine voice of the offshore worker!
