News from Norway.

We recently received a message from our Norwegian comrades asking if we could make our members aware of a dangerous situation they are facing in the Norwegian sector and what they, as a union are doing.

We in the UK sector are envious of the protection that is afforded those working in the Norwegian waters under the Norwegian Labour Act and the the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority.  What we may not be aware of is that those who are employed in the oil industry on ships are not afforded those same rights, "the future of the Norwegian oil industry is built by workers outside the law, "said an Industri Energi official,  "Our members tell dark stories from the sea and it is serious.  We demand political action from the Norwegian Parliament and IE demands that workers onboard ships are to be included in the Norwegian Labour Act."
