OCA 2010: Significant Cut in Real Wages

Did you find this interesting / relevant?

Tell a friend:

ASTONISHINGLY, the Unite union's OCA-employed offshore members have accepted a significant drop in living standards by voting YES in a "ballot" to accept the OCA's 1.9% pay "offer" spread over 2 years (do the arithmetic).

With the RPI galloping ahead at over 4% per annum (and rising) this represents a whopping 6-7% reduction in real pay over the period.

Those employed offshore by OCA companies will be keen to thank Unite colleagues for voting to bring our families a step nearer impoverishment. Thanks.

Download the "official" acceptance letter. Enjoy.

Following the recent ballot of Unite members on the above, I would advise you that the outcome was:

Those voting to accept the offer: 51%

Those voting to reject the offer: 48%

Spoilt papers:   1%

The return on the ballot was, again, extremely low:  only 23.5% of ballot papers sent to members were returned to Unite.

The OCA has been informed of the result, and we have requested the implementation of these increases and backdated payments to be paid as soon as practicably possible.
